Ready or not.

Wait. First I need to clean out my fish bowl, because if something happens to my fish I will be absolutely devastated.

Ok. Done.

I'm not so sure what I want to write about tonight, besides the fact that I just feel the need to write a blog for some reason. There are only a few more weeks until school starts up again though, and I think I just want to get out a few thoughts about that.
Honestly, I can't wait to go back to school, live in a dorm room with Jenny, and be with my friends for the year again. But at the same time, even though I'm not far away, I hate leaving home and only seeing my family every so often.
I have good feelings about this year, however, and I think it will go better than last year in a number of different ways. It's not going to be such a big adjustment like last year was, and now that I know what I'm doing it'll just be somewhat easier I think.
I need to find something to do with a lot of my time, like get a job or something. I want a cool job, though, not just a random job working somewhere doing something totally random. Oh well, I'll find something I'm sure.

I'm ready for another fresh start to the year, new opportunities, and new people to meet. I'm going to go into this year positively, and try to dive right in. These next couple weeks are going to fly by, that I know.

But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved. Hebrews 10:39
soooo, ready or not, here the year comes, and here I come. I won't shrink back.

Happy Birthday

A little bit ago I had to do one of the hardest things-- I had to put down one of my cats. It was such deja vu to be in that room at the vet's again, and relive everything that has already happened to me once before. But it was worse to sit and watch her suffer and struggle to breathe than to know that she's now in peace. And I'm not really sure what I believe on the issue, but as the vet tech said, "I wasn't brought up this way, but I believe that they'll be waiting for you."
It got me thinking about how important and meaningful animals are to me. In fact, I'm pretty sure the only reason I've cried this summer is over my animals and the void that I feel when they're gone. I honestly can't imagine what it would be like on earth if there were no animals, and I'm so thankful to God for them, and the ability that I have to love them, take care of them, and keep learning more about them. Animals are so honesty and real-- take horses, for example, when they spook at a leaf because they're really scared that something is going to jump out and chase them.
Animals aren't ashamed of anything like us. The way they are feeling is always so obvious. They love so unconditionally, but their trust of you is so easily broken. I think, sometimes there is a lot we need to learn from them, and even if not everyone feels this way about animals, I feel so blessed to have a such a love for them, and I know I won't ever be able to give that up.

Here's to Macy today.

You give and take away.
Blessed be your name.

The lone CO blog

Today we finally arrived at our vacation destination in Colorado. Even though it’s in southern Colorado and the mountains here aren’t quite like the ones farther north, it’s beautiful here. This town is supposedly the mountain biking mecca of the country, which doesn’t necessarily float my boat, but it’s kind of cool that everyone here is just so active. The house we’re staying in is in a little cul-de-sac with about 5 other houses, most of which have permanent residents. When we arrived, the neighbors all basically flocked over to meet us. It was so nice and such a surprise, because that’s not quite so normal around home.
The way out here was a little tricky. We got caught in an awful storm coming into Colorado from Nebraska last night, and ended up losing the car top carrier after it flew open and a bunch of our things fell out. It literally was tornado weather, and we were stuck on the side of the highway, holding the carrier on with a bungee cord, and praying that the car wouldn’t roll with the wind, get struck by lightning, or be hit by someone else on the road. It was probably one of the most terrifying things that has ever happened to me. But, God definitely protected us, and although we weren’t able to go back and recover our things, that’s not what mattered at all. We stayed safe and made it through to the next town for the night, shaken up, but relieved and thankful that it wasn’t any worse.
Now everyone’s getting ready to go downtown for a little pizza. It’s technically only about 8:30 here, but in my time it’s almost 10:30 at night. This could take a little bit of adjusting.
